What You Will Be DoingYou will provide IT support to Safeway stores in and around San Jose, CA, including deploying equipment, installing new hardware and software, and troubleshooting printers, POS systems, scales, network servers, and other IT hardware.
Main Responsibilities- Support standard hardware platforms and systems installed throughout Safeway
- Repair approved standard technology hardware including PC/Server, Network, RF hardware, and printers
- Provide complete recoverability of systems and applications
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Install new hardware and software
- Provide IT support to customers and meet SLA goals
- Provide network and remote connectivity support
- Maintain equipment inventory controls and policies
- Work with Support Center (STSC) on problem assignments
- Interface with Corporate IT groups for on‑site support and technology resolutions
- Adhere to repair standards and service levels
- Provide required driving for the Service Area
- Excellent customer service and problem‑solving skills with ability to gather information and resolve high‑pressure issues
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to present technical information clearly
- Working knowledge of IT hardware, installation models, Windows, MS Office, and related applications
- Independent worker with strong collaborative ability in a matrixed organization
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including day, evening, overnight, and on‑call support
- Strong sense of urgency, business ethics, dependability, and follow‑through
- High school graduate, BA/BS preferred, or 3+ years technical/training/hardware certifications
- 5+ years technical systems implementation and 2+ years technical support experience
- 2+ years experience with retail store systems and technology
- 2+ years experience installing and configuring desktop and peripheral technology
- Reliable vehicle and safe driving record
- Work may be performed in a temperature‑controlled environment
- Must sit, stand, or walk for extended periods
- May spend long periods at a desk or computer terminal
- Use of keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment during normal workday
- Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required
- Fast‑paced workday; evening and weekend work possible
- Must lift up to 50 pounds of equipment
Hourly rate: $26.57 to $34.53. Starting salary will vary based on location, experience, and qualifications. Exceptional candidates may be offered flexibility.
