This is a great opportunity for professionals with excellent customer service skills and strong computer skills. Surgery Schedulers are responsible for various front office duties and scheduling surgeries for physicians. Most of the work will be performed in the reception area, which involves frequent contact with patients. Applicants should be able to multi‑task, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be detail‑oriented.
Surgery schedulers are expected to be able to identify and solve problems effectively. You must also be familiar with insurance authorizations/referrals and have a good command of medical terminology.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Communicating with patients regarding scheduling surgeries and pre‑op appointments
- Maintaining office scheduling policies and occasional consultations with new patients
- Preparing patient charts for proper consent forms
- Preparing exam and treatment rooms
- Insurance verification/authorizations for tests and surgeries
- Maintaining work area and lobby in a neat and orderly manner
- Collecting co‑pays and occasionally handling finances
- Assisting the front office as needed
One year work experience as a Medical Receptionist and/or Surgery Scheduler preferred
