Position: ELECTION ASSISTANT II, NC-DRIVER (TEMPORARY)

This temporary position is open to the public. Applications will be accepted until the department’s needs are met and may be closed without prior notice.

The County of Los Angeles is one of Southern California’s largest employers, offering broad career growth and competitive salaries. The Registrar‑Recorder/County Clerk serves the public by providing essential records management and election services.

We seek a reliable, professional driver who can safely deliver and pick up election materials across assigned routes.

Essential Duties
  • Drive a 24‑foot truck, box truck, or passenger van on an assigned route to deliver and pick up election materials and supplies.
  • Load and unload election materials and supplies.
  • Record pickup and delivery schedules and items delivered.
  • Record vehicle usage, mileage, and maintenance information.
  • Read maps and follow written or verbal geographic directions.
  • Supervise a helper as needed.
Selection Requirements
  • Minimum six (6) months of full‑time experience driving a vehicle in pick‑up or delivery service. Paid or volunteer experience is accepted.
License

A valid California Class "C" Driver License is required at the time of hiring. Successful applicants must possess a valid driver’s license for the duration of the assignment and may be required to provide a driving record from the California Department of Motor Vehicles.

Physical Class 4 – Arduous Work

This class involves frequent heavy lifting over 25 pounds, often combined with bending, twisting, or working above ground on irregular surfaces. The position may require extraordinary physical activity such as those in Safety positions.

Temporary Employment Only

Appointees may be required to work any shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Positions are temporary and will be filled at any of the following locations:

  • Registrar‑Recorder/County Clerk Headquarters – Norwalk, CA
  • Ballot Processing Center – City of Industry, CA
  • VSAP Operation Center – Whittier, CA
  • Tally Operation Center – Downey, CA
  • VCST – Santa Fe Springs, CA
  • Field Work – Various Locations Throughout LA County
