Overview

The Assistant Fitness Manager (Personal Training Sales) is a sales‑driven leadership role focused on welcoming new members, guiding them through initial fitness experiences, and driving personal training package sales. Reporting to the Fitness Manager, you will help build a cohesive PT team, maintain a healthy client pipeline, and ensure exceptional member service.

Position Purpose

Build a cohesive Personal Training (PT) team, ensure a healthy pipeline of clients, and provide an outstanding fitness experience for members.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure daily sales targets are met, especially during weekends or in the absence of the Fitness Manager.
  • Promote personal training packages and build strong rapport with members.
  • Achieve and exceed sales targets for personal training services and small group training.
  • Collaborate with the membership sales team to support new member onboarding and smooth transition into the club.
  • Conduct personalized welcome workouts for new members to assess fitness needs and goals.
  • Guide new members through the initial club experience to foster retention and engagement.
  • Facilitate professional development for personal trainers through regular coaching.
  • Communicate goals, expectations, and procedures to staff, ensuring clarity of roles.
  • Supervise the maintenance and cleanliness of the facility, including equipment, locker rooms, and common areas.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintain necessary certifications, and implement safety protocols.
Qualifications
  • 2–3 years of customer service experience.
  • 1 year of sales experience.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Prior experience or strong interest in the fitness industry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with members, clients, staff, management, and vendors.
  • Excellent relationship‑building and influencing skills at all levels.
  • Strong detail orientation, systematic problem‑solving ability, and time‑management skills.
  • Excellent MS Office skills.

Requirements
  • Availability to work nights and weekends.
  • Successful background check.
  • Valid Personal Training certification.
  • CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to work in a gym setting and move around gym floors and rooms.
  • Ability to lift more than 40 lbs and bend routinely and repetitively.
  • Proficiency with the company computer system for documentation and data entry.
Compensation

California Pay Range: $45,000—$90,000 USD

Eligibility for variable income opportunities including commission and bonus.
