The Job
The Department of Children’s Services (DCS) is recruiting for Intake Specialists who, under direct supervision, receive reports of child abuse/neglect/exploitation and provide information regarding available services to the public and other agencies. Positions are located in San Bernardino.

Minimum RequirementsApplicants must meet one of the following options in addition to meeting the typing and availability requirements specified below.
- Option 1: Thirty semester (45 quarter) units of completed college coursework in social/behavioral science. A list of coursework must be submitted with the application unless a bachelor’s degree or an associate s degree has been completed in a social/behavioral science.
- Option 2: Twelve months of experience answering phone calls, processing reports and providing information in a crisis intervention setting.
- Option 3: Eighteen months of office clerical experience including data entry, word processing, responding to public inquiries and providing information in a Social Services setting.
Typing: 30 w.p.m. required. Indicate your corrected typing speed on the Supplemental Application.
Availability: Intake Specialists are required to be available to work ALL SHIFTS, which includes day, swing, night, rotating, weekends, and holidays.
- Failure to indicate availability for all shifts (including rotating shifts and weekends) and 30 w.p.m. typing speed will result in disqualification from the employment process.
Written Test: A written test will be administered on November 25th, 2008
