Overview
Position Summary: Under the supervision of the SVP of Resident Services and/or the Resident Services Program Supervisor, the Resident Services Coordinator will coordinate and oversee community development activities under the Beyond Homes key initiatives:
Adult Capacity Building, Housing Retention, Healthy Living, Green Living, Community Engagement, and case management services to families and seniors at two affordable housing developments located in Boyle Heights and Bell Gardens. The Beyond Homes Resident Services program serves various populations including Seniors, TAY, Families, Survivors of Domestic Violence, Formerly Homeless, and individuals with disabilities. The RSC will ensure ongoing access to resources for residents, intervene when individuals are at risk of losing their housing, and provide avenues to social service agencies.
The RSC engages residents with each other and their greater communities, promoting wellness, reducing isolation, increasing stability, independence, and aging in place for senior citizens. At family sites, the RSC is responsible for oversight of youth programs including out-of-school time programs focusing on social and emotional learning (SEL) and summer programs for youth ages 5-17. The RSC tracks programs and referrals through daily attendance, referral notes, case notes, and the Resident Connect database.
Any RSC working with special needs residents or the formerly homeless population is required to collaborate with service providers to ensure best practices in permanent supportive housing. Specialized training will be provided.
- Assess the needs of families and individuals and recommend specific service plans, provide service referrals and linkages.
- Assess community needs and provide resources accordingly.
- Meet with family members involved in case management services upon request.
- Oversee the maintenance of confidential case files, case notes, attendance sheets, surveys and correspondence through software systems.
- Provide supervision and oversight to all program staff and third-party service providers.
- Provide social, educational and recreational programs using volunteers, local non-profits, governmental, or community resources.
- Develop programming and coordinate workshops relevant to resident needs including wellness, life skills, fiscal responsibility, mental health, social well-being, technology, and community building.
- Attend local coalition meetings comprised of community members, service providers, and residents to represent Abode Communities.
- Establish collaborative working relationships with Property Managers to facilitate open communication regarding resident activities, meetings, and events.
- In partnership with Property Management, participate in community meetings to maintain ongoing resident communication channels.
- Respond to Property Management referrals by following up within 24 hours.
- Serve as a resident advocate while teaching residents to advocate for themselves.
- Provide regular documentation and tracking of all program activities via the Family Metrics program database.
- Conduct annual resident satisfaction surveys to ensure quality of service and alignment with needs and requests.
- Maintain resident files in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Prepare quarterly and annual reports of outputs and outcomes to measure impact for each assigned site.
- Complete special projects as designated by the SVP, Resident Services or designee.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; and two years of related experience in social work, human services, case management, or related field required.
- Ability to initiate and maintain effective, cooperative working relationships with community-based organizations, public and private entities.
- Ability to organize and oversee meetings, activities, and events; effective networking in the community.
- Preferred experience working with formerly homeless individuals, families, and seniors.
- Preferred training in Trauma-Informed Care best practices.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Preferred bilingual literacy in English and Spanish.
