Overview
The Youth Source Center Program is funded by the City of Los Angeles Economic & Workforce Development Department. This program serves as the City’s delivery system for young adult economic development initiatives providing a continuum of core services including:
Work Readiness, Career Exploration, Job Skills Training, Tutoring & Computer Training, College Preparation, Mentoring & Counseling.
Under the supervision of Family Source Center (FSC) Program Director, the Mental Wellness Services Coordinator conducts intensive psychosocial assessments and coordinates mental wellness services for at‑risk TAY youth ages 16‑24 enrolled in the Employment Based Services at the Boyle Heights Technology Youth Source Center.
Responsibilities- Schedule, coordinate, and conduct psychosocial assessments for approximately 105 TAY youth enrolled in the program.
- Formulate Individual Service Strategy (ISS).
- Coordinate the delivery of Mental Wellness Services for TAY Youth such as individual therapy and two age‑specific support groups that promote healthy coping techniques in managing stress and other feelings of anger, sadness & frustration while helping to promote self‑esteem, self‑worth and confidence.
- Monitor the progress of enrolled youth while they are in job readiness training and attending secondary and/or post‑secondary school.
- Track participant progress during the training components and update service strategy based on the needs of the participants.
- Coordinate referral assistance to other community‑based organizations providing additional supportive services to TAY youth.
- Conduct follow‑up contacts with youth by phone or site visit for 12 months after program completion.
- Accurately and timely document all client‑based services.
- Facilitate case management strategies as needed to support students overall goals.
- Enter all program related services as scheduled into the city’s data entry system.
- Master’s Degree in social work or related human services preferred or a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in social work or related human services field and four years of work experience providing similar services as outlined in the Duties section.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Strong independent working skills (housed in off‑site location).
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Employment is subject to applicants’ successful completion of a criminal background check and/or life scan as required by federal, state, city of Los Angeles and local government entities.
- TB clearance, to be renewed every two years.
- Must have reliable transportation, a valid California driver license and state required automobile insurance coverage.
Starting month salary: $4,000 per 40 hours per week.
