Case Manager FT - Meadow at Melrose (Full‑time, Non‑Exempt) –
Safe Place for Youth

Location: Los Angeles, CA
Schedule: Monday‑Friday, 11:00am‑7:30pm
Salary: $24.00/hr
Reports to: Meadow at Melrose Housing Supervisor

Description

Safe Place for Youth (SPY) is expanding its housing program to support youth experiencing or at‑risk of homelessness. This role involves managing the Lighthouse Transitional Living Program (TLP) for youth ages 18‑24, ensuring a safe, supportive environment and delivering comprehensive case management services.

About the Role

The Case Manager oversees the property’s safety and cleanliness, responds to crises, resolves conflicts among residents, and promotes holistic well‑being. Duties include driving and lifting as required.

What You’ll Do
  • Process referrals, screen for eligibility, and manage the waitlist.
  • Coordinate youth move‑ins, exits, and sustainability planning.
  • Complete intake and documentation, ensuring charts meet QA standards.
  • Apply culturally relevant active listening and motivational interviewing to identify supports.
  • Provide a Next Step Tool assessment and co‑create housing and service plans.
  • Meet weekly with youth to track progress toward plan goals.
  • Connect resources addressing physical, economic, and psychosocial needs and follow up to ensure housing retention.
  • Offer housing navigation and crisis intervention, risk assessment, and safety planning.
  • Document all interactions in relevant databases promptly.
  • Assist with budgeting, benefits, employment, and assistance level determinations.
  • Participate in trainings, meetings, and technical assistance such as learning collaboratives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field preferred; related experience or lived experience considered.
  • 2+ years of direct service experience with high‑risk transition‑age youth preferred.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent social, emotional, and cognitive development, trauma‑informed care, and harm‑reduction models.
  • Ability to work within legal and ethical guidelines.
  • Flexible scheduling based on program needs.
  • Commitment to SPY’s mission, vision, and culture.
  • Proactive, innovative mindset.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
  • Valid California driver’s license, auto insurance, and capacity to transport youth.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Drive.
  • Cultural humility and respect for diversity.
Work Environment and

Physical Requirements
  • Extended periods of sitting and computer work.
  • Outdoor or environmental changes.
  • Physical effort/lifting of up to 15‑20 pounds occasionally.
Special Conditions

This position requires mandated reporting under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act. COVID‑19 vaccination or testing may be required per state mandates.

Driver Positions

Applicants must provide a valid driver’s license, insurance proof, and a DMV driving record. Job offers depend on a satisfactory driving record. Unsatisfactory records include suspended/revoked license, ≥3 moving violations in 36 months, or serious recent violations.
