Mechanic, Trades ​/ Skilled Labor

Overview

MCI is North America s leader in motor coaches for both the public and private markets. We are seeking a skilled and reliable Heavy Duty Bus and Coach Mechanic to join our team in maintaining and repairing our diverse fleet. You will perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance to ensure vehicles—from diesel-powered buses to electric drive trains—are safe, efficient, and ready for service.

• Diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, troubleshooting and performing minor and major overhauls to keep engines running efficiently.
• Drive line component maintenance, including removing, repairing, and replacing transmissions, drive shafts, and differentials.
• Engine and body accessory repairs, including heating and air conditioning systems, alternators, generators, voltage regulators, and suspension components.
• Braking system inspection and repair to maintain fleet safety and effectiveness.
• Electrical systems troubleshooting and repair to ensure correct and efficient operation of all systems.
• Seating, steering, and glass installations and repairs to ensure passenger comfort and safety.
• Electric bus maintenance, including high-voltage systems, battery packs, and electric drive trains.

• Technical expertise with diesel engines, driveline components, and electrical systems. Familiarity with electric vehicle maintenance is a plus.
• Proficiency with diagnostic devices (e.g., DDEC and ATEC readers), A/C recovery and charging equipment, and shop tools (e.g., hydraulic presses, pullers, manometers, tachometers, and other standard power tools).
• Certifications related to electric vehicles or advanced diagnostics are beneficial but not required.
• Experience in fabrication and machining (optional): welding, machining, or fabrication skills to address unique repair needs and potential custom modifications.
• Strong understanding of safety practices and effective use of personal protective equipment.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and organizational skills.

Hourly Rate: $38 - $42
