Lead Carpenter - Carpentry Shop

Facilities Management is seeking a Lead Carpenter to work with other shop Managers, Supervisors, Project Managers and clients regarding various carpentry related project requirements. Provide estimates to clients and schedules for cabinet and case work projects. Provide daily updates as to the status of the projects to the Manager and/or Supervisor. Organize, assign, or modify daily work assignments of journey-level Carpenters, Facilities Mechanics, Facilities Workers, and/or Apprentice Carpenters in the shop.
Assignments are given in terms of specific projects and/or expertise or specialty skills of Carpenters. Maintain in-shop supply inventory and monitor inventory levels to assure that materials and equipment used on a daily basis are available to satisfactorily complete a job function or when subordinate requests assistance.
- Working knowledge of a variety of materials, equipment, methods and tools of the Carpenter's trade, Skill in estimating material and labor requirements related to the trade, including achievement of journey-level skills.
- Working knowledge of Class A construction and codes, fire codes, construction procedures and ADA requirements (ADA/Fire hardware installation).
- Satisfactory Completion of a Certified Carpentry Apprenticeship Program or equivalent education and experience
- Possession of valid California Driver's License Class C and the ability to drive University issued vehicle in the course of job duties
- Ability to bend, stoop and kneel; push, pull or carry up to 50 lbs or 80lbs with assistance
