Work with the Operations Team to hire and train the bartending team.
- Conduct regular training for bartenders and evaluate bartenders on specific tasks, skills, and duties.
- Attend Advance, BEO and post-event meetings.
- Maintain and update beverage offerings as needed.
- Develop and collaborate in creating custom cocktail menus and specialty cocktails for events.
- Create prep and batching sheets.
- Test cocktails with attention to detail and make use of what we have on hand when applicable.
- Order and prep ingredients, set up the bar and host client tastings.
- Coordinate with sales and management team on specific event needs.
- Manage ordering and receiving of all bar, specialty beverage items, ice and bar equipment.
- Manage costing, ordering, prep and batching of all specialty cocktails.
- Schedule prep assistance when needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work prep station and bar area.
- Ensure First in, First out in all bar storage spaces.
- Maintain inventory log of all fresh and dry product.
- Manage and maintain beverage vendor accounts and relationships.
- Research specialty vendors and set up accounts, if needed.
- Compare pricing across vendors when ordering.
- Manage logistics of getting bar product to venues and create pack lists for events.
- Implement agreed-upon beverage policy and procedures throughout the venue, including posting of permits in all service areas.
- Participate in the development and implementation of corrective action plans.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure completion of a successful event.
- Schedule bar staff as needed.
- Work with the Event Coordinator to ensure proper scheduling of bartenders based on the size and style of event.
- Schedule prep shift and batching help as needed.
- Supervise and manage bartenders, bar backs, and FOH service staff.
- Ensure staff understands expectations and parameters for service on each event.
- Train staff on liquor control policies and procedures.
- Lead pre-shift meetings to communicate critical information to staff regarding each event.
- Lead cocktail build meetings with the bar team on events.
- Empower staff to provide excellent customer service and make good choices.
- Provide feedback to individuals in an effort to improve service performance.
- Monitor and proactively supervise staff to maintain the highest quality of service for clients and guests.
- Provide safe and responsible alcohol service to customers.
- Exercise appropriate judgment in handling client-facing situations.
- Ensure that guests are provided top-quality, friendly and professional service.
- Beverage Control:
Perpetual inventory, portion control, costs control, sales analysis, and event inventory. - Accountable for enforcing all legal obligations in compliance with all local, state, and federal beverage liquor laws.
- Filing, dropping off and printing ABC license when needed for events and ensuring they are properly displayed in both front and back of house.
Other duties, requirements and helpful attributes and traits:
- Experience with Google Workspace and MS Office Suite.
- Competency and knowledge of Excel and Google Sheets.
- Experience with inventory management and databases.
- Oversee cash handling and cash bar POS setup if needed for events.
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication.
- Ability to stay on task, be proactive and ask questions.
- Ability to reconcile cash‑out, tips, reports for discrepancies (if applicable).
- Knowledge of Nowsta staffing platform and Total Party Planner software (or similar).
- Experience in large-scale event management and cocktail creation.
- Experiential custom cocktail creation and execution for high-end clients.
- Ability to think clearly under pressure and be flexible in your planning while anticipating guest and client needs.
- Bright, kind, courteous mindset while communicating with all staff, clients and guests.
- Ability to turn challenges into opportunities and share the belief that there are no solution‑less problems.
- Be DEPENDABLE, THOROUGH, COLLABORATIVE, ENTHUSIASTIC, AMBITIOUS.
- Current Supervisor RBS, Food Handler and Supervisor CA Sexual Harassment Training Certifications required.
