Repair Mechanic (Heavy Equipment)

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Pay Rate: $30 - $40 per hour

Job Type: Full-time

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Repair Mechanic with a strong background in heavy equipment to join our Los Angeles team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of specialized utility and cable-handling equipment. This role requires an individual who is proficient in electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems, and who can work independently and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a range of heavy equipment, including but not limited to:

    • Bucket Trucks (aerial lifts)

    • Digger Derricks

    • Cable Handling Trailers

    • Underground Pullers

  • Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using schematics, diagnostic tools, and practical experience.

  • Execute repairs and replacements of components such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps, cylinders, electrical wiring, and control systems.

  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify potential problems and ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.

  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations.

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding repair status and any potential issues.

  • Keep work area clean and organized.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, specifically with experience working on bucket trucks, digger derricks, cable handling trailers, and/or underground pullers.

  • Must possess a comprehensive set of personal tools adequate for performing the duties outlined.

  • Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical (12V/24V systems), and mechanical systems.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics and technical manuals.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex systems.

  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.

  • Valid California Driver's License; CDL preferred but not required.

  • Certification in hydraulics, electrical systems, or heavy equipment repair is a plus.

  • Must be able to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions.
