Security Guard

Nemours is seeking a Public Security Officer to join our team in Wilmington, DE.

• Provide protection for patients, visitors, and associates by maintaining peace and order at Nemours Children’s Hospital – Delaware (NCH-D).
• Prevention, detection, investigation and reporting of unlawful and unsafe activities within the Hospital and contiguous properties and buildings Investigation includes interviewing victims, witnesses and suspects; collecting, reviewing, and preserving evidence and conducting searches and surveillance.
• Application of non-violent verbal intervention and de-escalation skills to mitigate disruptive behavior and dangerous activity.
• Provide escort of unauthorized individuals from the campus and prevent patient elopement and abduction.
• Conduct fire, evacuation, and miscellaneous emergency management drills as require by the State of Delaware, the Joint Commission and the Centers for Medic are and Medicaid Services.
• Investigate violations of Nemours Standards of Behavior as directed by Nemours Administration, Human Resources, Risk, Legal and Public Safety department leadership.
• Provide access control into the Hospital and specific areas of the Hospital as well as apply visitor restrictions limitation measures instituted by the Hospital.
• Provide safe vehicle transportation or ambulance support for patients and families, as needed.
• Provide one on one patient monitoring for inpatient units; patients assist for aggressive or unstable patients; escorts for patients in custody, visitor designated as tier two or three sex offenders, and visitors with history of aggressive behavior or domestic issues; patient searches; and room safety sanitization for suicidal/homicidal patients.
• Provide first responder assessment of threats against staff, patients, and families.

• High school diploma required
• Security officer experience preferred
