Business Development Manager - International Air/Ocean

Salary - $75k to $125k base plus commission.

Excellent Company benefits: 401k, Dental insurance, Health insurance, Life insurance, Paid time off, Vision insurance, car allowance, commission.

A Book of Business is advantageous.

A minimum of 2/3 years of sales experience within the freight forwarding industry is required.

Must have a positive mentality and enjoy a fantastic commission scheme.

Our client, a global leader in logistics and supply chain management, specializes in providing comprehensive Freight Forwarding solutions across international waters. They have a robust network of partners and cutting-edge technology, ensuring seamless, efficient, and cost-effective transportation of goods worldwide.

Role

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for maintaining and growing a book of business, as well as expanding regional import/export sales in Air/Ocean internationally.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop new business through research, prospecting, and qualifying new opportunities, including customer visits and relationship development within the defined geographical area.
  • Increase market share within the assigned territory and meet financial targets for volume, revenue, and profit.
  • Close new business deals and onboard new clients.
  • Expand market share within the existing client base.
  • Maintain contact with clients to ensure high satisfaction levels.
  • Collaborate with the Pricing team on client pricing strategies and rate quotes.
  • Monitor and manage clients' credit lines within company guidelines.
  • Keep the Company’s CRM updated.
  • Provide regular updates and monthly budget reviews to management.
  • Client and Supplier Management

  • Manage allocated clients using established tools to meet and exceed targets.
  • Follow up weekly with new clients after initial shipments.
  • Disseminate contract information with customers and suppliers to relevant parties.
  • Ensure timely completion of customer requests related to commercial activities at the highest service level.
  • Adhere to client service level agreements.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Confidence in retaining current clients (no non-compete restrictions).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to exceeding client expectations.
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with CRM systems.
  • Having a book of business is a plus.
