Role OverviewThe Senior Buyer, Fashion is a key member of the merchandising organization, responsible for shaping and executing buying strategies that drive growth across both subscription box and e-commerce channels. This role owns the development and management of high-impact fashion brand partnerships, ensuring assortments are on-trend, on-brand, and aligned with financial and business objectives. Partnering closely with merchandising leadership and cross-functional teams, the Senior Buyer leads deal execution end to end, balances creative curation with strong financial discipline, and uses data-driven insights to optimize category performance.
This position also plays a leadership role within the buying team, developing talent and fostering a high-performing, collaborative environment while continuously evolving the fashion assortment to meet member expectations.
- Lead seasonal and annual buying strategies for the Fashion category across subscription boxes and e-commerce channels
- Build, negotiate, and manage high-impact partnerships with both established and emerging fashion brands
- Own deal execution from sourcing through onboarding, working cross-functionally with Operations, Legal, Marketing, Planning, Production, and Merchandising Strategy teams
- Source and buy product in alignment with line plans, ensuring financial goals are met across margin, cost benchmarks, SKU productivity, and overall assortment balance
- Stay ahead of women’s fashion and lifestyle trends to deliver seasonally relevant, on-brand assortments that resonate with members
- Analyze performance, post-season results, and hindsight reporting to identify insights and optimize future assortments
- Conduct competitive and marketplace analysis, including attending trade shows and market appointments as needed
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Buyers, Associate Buyers, and Assistant Buyers, supporting performance management and career growth
- 7+ years of experience in merchandising, buying, subscription, or retail environments with a strong focus on fashion
- Proven ability to negotiate and close complex vendor agreements and manage high-value brand relationships
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing buying teams
- Strong financial acumen, including managing open-to-buy and large revenue categories
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Data-driven mindset with strong Excel skills and the ability to translate insights into action
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to travel periodically for market and trade events
