Dishwasher | Kitchen Assistant – Job Description

Purpose: To ensure the efficient operation of the commercial dishwasher and the cleanliness of all pots, pans, and utensils, and to assist with other kitchen cleaning duties as directed.

Job Title: Kitchen Assistant / Prep Cook
• Dishwasher | Kitchen Assistant

• Dishwashing
  • Prepare the dishwashing machine for operation on the assigned shift
  • Wash all pots, pans, and utensils accumulated since the end of the previous dishwashing period
  • Wash all pots, pans, utensils, and dishes used during the assigned shift
  • Ensure that all china, glassware, silverware, and equipment are returned to designated areas after cleaning
  • Record wash and rinse water temperatures on the Dishwashing Temperature Log sheet at specified times
  • Record notable food waste on the assigned shift using the designated form
  • Complete a report of broken china, glassware, and equipment discarded during the assigned shift
  • At end of shift, clean the dishwashing machine according to the specified procedure

• Kitchen Cleaning
  • Dispose of all garbage from the kitchen and dish room into proper containers outside, throughout the shift as needed
  • Break down and remove all cardboard from the kitchen and place into designated recycle bins
  • Mop dish room and kitchen floors throughout the shift as needed
  • Keep the break room clean; remove used dishes, clean the cart, and dispose of garbage as needed throughout the shift
  • Assist with other duties on daily, weekly, or monthly kitchen cleaning schedules as assigned

• Food Service
  • Assist cooks and dining room personnel in preparation and delivery of room service trays
  • Assist the Director of Signature Dining, Lead Cook, and Cook with food preparations as directed
  • May assist in preparing carts for delivery

• Other
  • Attend all required team member meetings and in-service training sessions
  • Uphold Residents’ Rights as defined by state regulations and Company policy
  • Support and uphold all other Company policies and the service philosophy
  • Reliable and predictable attendance
  • Other duties as assigned

• Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
  Previous dishwashing experience in a restaurant or senior living setting preferred
• Must have good interpersonal skills
• Must have a strong commitment to customer service and desire to exceed customer expectations
• Must be able to read, comprehend, write, and speak English to communicate effectively with residents, guests, and team members
• Must meet all health-related and/or food handling requirements pertaining to local or state regulatory agencies
• Must maintain current CPR/First Aid credentials
• Must maintain current Food Handlers credentials
• Must maintain annual Continuing Education Credits
• Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities (Essential Job Functions) with or without reasonable accommodation
