Position description

Postdoctoral positions are available in the lab of Dr. Mireille Kamariza at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), located in the Bioengineering Department. Leveraging chemical biology and fluorescence imaging techniques, we are developing a new platform to detect tuberculosis (TB) drug resistance in patient samples. Poor diagnostic tools to detect active disease hamper TB control programs. Accurate detection of live Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) could therefore improve TB diagnosis and patient treatment.

Postdoctoral fellows will work on interdisciplinary projects within a highly collaborative environment to identify optimal combinations of TB drugs, old and new. Using high-throughput image analysis or large-scale quantitative fluorescence analysis, candidates will decipher drug efficacy and efficiency and potentially gain mechanistic insights for designing novel therapeutic strategies. This project will equip the candidates with skills in microbiology, chemical and molecular biology.
