Research Associate II - Tourtellotte Lab
Principal Investigator, Dr. Warren G. Tourtellotte is looking for a Research Associate II to join the team!
The Tourtellotte laboratory studies the cellular and molecular basis of central and peripheral nervous system development, and mechanisms involved in innervation homeostasis and neurodegeneration. We are seeking a Research Associate with experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology and/or primary tissue culture to assist with all aspects of scientific experimentation in the laboratory.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Perform a variety of increasingly complex experimental protocols and procedures and assist in the design of new protocols and techniques.
- Keep accurate and detailed records of experiments and results, and assist in identifying and troubleshooting unexpected results.
- Order laboratory supplies and support laboratory operations.
- Maintain lab equipment and related records and may coordinate use of lab equipment.
- Assist in the operation of specialized equipment, as required by the area of research.
- Assist in preparation of data for publication and/or presentation at scholarly meetings.
- Observe and comply with safety standards and procedures.
- Orient research laboratory assistants or lower level research associates and undergraduate student researchers on day-to-day lab operations and routine procedures.
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science or related field.
- 1 year of research laboratory experience (required).
- Understanding of general research objectives.
- Offer technical support to keep projects moving forward.
- Working knowledge of database management, personal computers, and presentations.
- Familiar with routine laboratory procedures and experimental protocols.
- Preferred: minimum 2 years of experience with translational research using animal models to study mechanisms of gene function and disease pathogenesis.
- Preferred experience in molecular biology, cell culture, immunocytochemistry, Western blotting, PCR, quantitative real-time PCR, and histology/imaging techniques including quantitative bright-field and fluorescence microscopy.
Overtime Status: NONEXEMPT;
Primary Shift: Day;
Shift Duration: 8 hour;
Base Pay: $24.00 - $36.14.
