Position description

The Department of Radiological Sciences at UCLA is recruiting a postdoctoral scholar to join the Chiang lab. The appointment will be supervised by Dr. Jason Chiang, in collaboration with Drs. David Lu and Steven Raman. A PhD and/or MD degree is required, along with a demonstrated track record in cancer immunology and cancer metabolism with a specific interest in solid tumors.

The ideal candidate will co‑supervise graduate students, research associates, and visiting graduate student researchers on translational research studies involving interventional oncology. Responsibilities include coordinating efforts from investigators and staff across multiple departments. Experience in basic science of immuno‑oncology, image‑guided therapies, rodent and large animal cancer models, and wet‑lab skills (cell culture, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, western blot, flow cytometry) are desirable.

Applicants should have excellent communication skills and experience contributing to grant submissions and publishing manuscripts in high‑impact journals. Candidates must have a strong interest and commitment to an academic research career.

Responsibilities:

  • Research project management and data acquisition.
  • Developing and updating protocols and best practices.
  • Database maintenance, data analysis, and preparation of research manuscripts.
  • Preparation of grant proposals.
  • Coordination with interdisciplinary team members and presentation at national and international meetings.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications:

  • PhD and/or MD degree with experience in basic science or translational research.

Additional qualifications:

  • Evidence of related prior publications.
  • Highly motivated and independent.
  • Ability to prioritize work and be well organized.
  • Team‑leading skills.
  • Effective problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) with a strong work ethic.
