Senior Quality AssuranceSkybound is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance team member to take full ownership of testing lifecycle planning for a still‑to‑be announced game currently in development. This role will drive quality from production through launch, ensuring the game is ready for key milestones like Alpha, Beta, and full release.
You’ll oversee cross‑functional test plans, manage integrations with external QA partners, and serve as the connective tissue between development and quality efforts. Your focus will be on launch readiness, platform certification, and the long‑term health of the player experience—driven by deep familiarity with game development pipelines, excellent communication, and sharp operational instincts.
Reports: This position will report to QA Manager.
ResponsibilitiesLaunch Testing Strategy
- Build, present, and execute comprehensive QA strategies for milestone readiness (e.g., Alpha, Beta, Launch).
- Develop test plans across gameplay, systems, content, performance, and platform certification requirements.
- Define and enforce QA gates aligned to the development lifecycle (e.g., feature locks, patch updates).
- Create detailed QA playbooks and schedules tied to initiative tracking and release management.
- Present strategies to directors and serve as the go‑to stakeholder for all pre‑launch and post‑launch QA planning.
- Own the QA‑facing readiness for platform certification submissions (e.g., Xbox, Play Station, Steam) and work with partners for a successful submission.
Coordination with External QA
- Act as the primary liaison between internal teams and external QA partners for your project.
- Monitor progress, ensure clear bug documentation standards, and drive alignment on goals and timelines.
- Evaluate external QA performance, elevate issues, and offer structured feedback to maintain velocity and accuracy.
Daily QA Operations
- Oversee bug dashboards, follow up with stakeholders, and maintain situational awareness of build health.
- Identify and report on bug trends, fix rates, and risk areas with forward‑looking projections.
- Drive hands‑on day‑to‑day testing with high self‑sufficiency, urgency and focus while prioritizing what matters at each phase and shielding dev teams from noise.
Quality Leadership
- Maintain deep understanding of build phase definitions (Alpha, Beta, RC, etc.) and their implications for testing scope.
- Coordinate feedback loops from internal reviews; convert insight into test coverage.
- Ensure performance, compatibility, and stability are tested across all target platforms and hardware configurations.
- Maintain and enforce high standards for bug writing and reproducibility across QA partners.
- Proactively solve problems across test planning, build evaluation, and issue resolution—not waiting on direction to act.
- 5+ years in game QA, with at least 2 years in a QA leadership or coordination role.
- Proven track record as a leader on QA efforts for multiple shipped console and/or PC titles.
- Deep understanding of development pipelines, release milestones, and certification processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead across disciplines.
- Proficiency with bug tracking and test case management tools (e.g., JIRA, Test Rail).
- Highly organized and proactive; able to anticipate risks and act independently.
- Experience interfacing…
