Job OverviewAMN Healthcare Nursing is seeking a travel RN for dialysis in Los Angeles. Position begins 16 March 2026 for 13 weeks (40 hrs/week). Shift: 10 hour days. Travel nursing.

- Pay Per Shift: 10 hour shifts
- Oversee preparation of delivery system, dialysate bath, and dialyzer; confirm mandatory alarm tests on equipment.
- Review physician orders and dialysis patient records; collect pre‑treatment data.
- Conduct pre‑dialysis assessment: vital signs, vascular access, labs, overall health.
- Verify prescription medication use and perform reconciliation.
- Document assessments, interventions, and advise providers on significant changes.
- Address patient concerns and answer care questions.
- Supervise dialysis technicians during procedures; monitor patient reaction and machine performance.
- Assess, prepare, and cannulate vascular access (including AV fistula needle insertion).
- Apply sterile techniques for catheter exit sites and dressing changes per CHLA protocols.
- Perform surveillance on dialysis access for early failure or infection signs; use ultrasound when trained.
- Manage electronic/paper orders and administer IV/oral dialysis medications per protocol.
- Conduct post‑dialysis assessment, discharge patient, document medication admin, access condition, and treatment data.
- Provide education/teaching related to medical condition.
- Refer patients to other services (nutrition, social work, etc.) as needed.
- Perform additional treatments and diagnostic tests (e.g., blood sugar).
- Oversee disassembly/disinfection of dialysis equipment.
- Maintain skills for regional heparinization, blood sampling, oxygen set‑up, saline admin, equipment maintenance.
- Surveillance and testing of dialysis water treatment equipment and water.
- Demonstrate knowledge of dialysis labs and medications.
- Apply infection control and blood‑borne pathogen prevention principles.
- Respond appropriately in emergencies.
- Provide leadership in improving patient care, maintaining standards, directing/teaching staff, charge nursing when required.
- Collaborate with dialysis team and attend interdisciplinary meetings.
- Registered Nurse, Dialysis.
- Minimum 2 years' RN experience (RN-CA).
- PALS and BLS certifications required.
- Experience with both acute and chronic hemodialysis.
- Pediatric dialysis experience preferred.
