Essential Duties

• Escort patients to exam rooms and obtain record and update patient vital signs and medication lists.
• Monitor patient flow, assist physicians with minor clinical procedures, and perform EKGs.
• Prepare patient charts with pertinent medical information and administer medications as directed by a physician.
• Schedule diagnostic tests ordered by the physician and perform various administrative duties (answer and return patient calls, receive and sort faxes, obtain prior authorizations).
• Ensure patient privacy, safety, and confidentiality; maintain a safe environment in accordance with standards and infection control policies.
• Perform venipuncture methods (syringe, vacutainer, blood culture, finger stick) and collect specimens using proper techniques.
• Oversee equipment and office supply inventory; provide back-up administrative support when needed.
• Manage daily patient flow and adjust clinical staff schedules to ensure quality, patient-centered care; establish and revise work center and related staff schedules with input from the clinic director.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate from an accredited Vocational Nursing program (LVN/LPN).
• Demonstrated ability to effectively work with physicians, staff, and patients.
• Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Word) and Internet use.
• Excellent customer service behavior and strong interpersonal skills for handling sensitive and confidential information.
• Ability to work independently and in a team to accomplish duties in a timely manner.
• Ability to triage patients in person and over the telephone.
• Record patient information in chart/EHR according to Joint Commission standards.
• Capable of taking patient histories and vital signs; sets up exam rooms and assists physician with exams as needed.
• First aid and CPR certified or able to obtain as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two years of experience in surgical care, acute care, or ambulatory care settings.
• LVN with Intravenous Therapy Certification (CA DCA).

Required Licenses/Certifications

• Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) – CA DCA.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider – American Heart Association.
• Fire Life Safety Training – LA City (if no card upon hire, obtain within 30 days and renew by expiration).

Compensation

The hourly rate range for this position is $28.00 - $47.75. USC considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience, education, skills, internal equity, and applicable laws when extending offers.
