Location: Valley Presbyterian Hospital, San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, CA

Compensation: $52.08 to $69.24 per hour (DOE) + $8,000.00 sign‑on bonus.

Employment Status: Full Time (72‑80 Hours per pay period)

Position Overview: Valley Presbyterian Hospital is seeking an experienced, dynamic Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Department Unit as a Clinical II. In this role you will collaborate with our dedicated team to provide high‑quality patient care and support the department’s operational excellence.

What You’ll Do
  • Coordinate comprehensive patient care and education for patients and families.
  • Maintain professional communication with colleagues, physicians, and the healthcare team using the SBAR format.
  • Adhere to HIPAA and VPH policies, ensuring strict confidentiality.
  • Cross‑train to various hospital areas as required by policy.
  • Document care processes efficiently using information technology.
  • Collaborate with physicians and mentors to evaluate and modify care plans based on patient needs.
  • Follow Universal Precautions and VPH infection control standards.
  • Administer medications per hospital policy and report errors promptly.
  • Apply the nursing process: collect and interpret patient data, formulate diagnoses, and assess conditions.
  • Advocate for patients and families, supporting their values and needs.
  • Provide ongoing discharge education and plan effective discharges.
  • Maintain a caring and compassionate approach, communicating updates to patients and families.
  • Support throughput initiatives for timely patient transfers and discharges.
  • Participate in unit or hospital quality improvement initiatives and projects.
  • Exhibit professionalism in appearance, conduct, and communication.
What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum 1 year of recent nursing experience in an emergency department setting.
  • ADN degree required; BSN preferred.
  • Current licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing.
  • AHA BLS certification.
  • LA City Fire Card certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Emergency Department Certifications (to be obtained within 30 days of employment):
    • AHA ACLS
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • Management of Aggressive Behavior Certification
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) Certification
    • Annual Critical Care Swan Stroke Education
