Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of an anesthesiologist, the Sr. Nurse Anesthetist will perform safe anesthesia care, including:

  • Pre-operative assessment
  • Writing of appropriate pre-op orders as specified by approved standard procedures
  • Administration of all types of anesthetic and techniques
  • Patient monitoring intra-operatively
  • Providing for intra-op course and emergence
  • Assisting in post-operative care

Work may include 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, totaling 40 hours per week, as well as on-call shifts. Work will be assigned to various ORs.

Job Qualifications
  • Valid California RN and CRNA license
  • Graduated from an accredited Master's or DNP program in Nurse Anesthesia
  • Current certification/re-certification by the National Board of Certification & Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists
  • BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA or ARC
  • Ability to perform thorough pre, intra-operative, and post-operative assessments and formulate safe anesthesia care plans
  • Skill in pre-operative assessment, including identification of pre-existing diseases, understanding drug interactions, recognizing physical examination abnormalities, and understanding surgical delays and consultations
  • Ability to explain anesthetic techniques, risks, and obtain informed consent
  • Ability to document anesthesia records comprehensively
  • Skill in airway management and physiological monitoring interpretation
  • Ability to insert monitoring lines under medical direction
  • Knowledge of pharmacology related to anesthesia practice
  • Skill in performing MAC, regional, and general anesthesia techniques
  • Ability to recognize signs of safe emergence from anesthesia and manage patient transport and reporting
  • Knowledge of current clinical education and research techniques, evidenced by experience, credentials, and licensure
