Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of an anesthesiologist, the Sr. Nurse Anesthetist will perform safe anesthesia care, including:
- Pre-operative assessment
- Writing of appropriate pre-op orders as specified by approved standard procedures
- Administration of all types of anesthetic and techniques
- Patient monitoring intra-operatively
- Providing for intra-op course and emergence
- Assisting in post-operative care
Work may include 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, totaling 40 hours per week, as well as on-call shifts. Work will be assigned to various ORs.
Job Qualifications- Valid California RN and CRNA license
- Graduated from an accredited Master's or DNP program in Nurse Anesthesia
- Current certification/re-certification by the National Board of Certification & Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists
- BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA or ARC
- Ability to perform thorough pre, intra-operative, and post-operative assessments and formulate safe anesthesia care plans
- Skill in pre-operative assessment, including identification of pre-existing diseases, understanding drug interactions, recognizing physical examination abnormalities, and understanding surgical delays and consultations
- Ability to explain anesthetic techniques, risks, and obtain informed consent
- Ability to document anesthesia records comprehensively
- Skill in airway management and physiological monitoring interpretation
- Ability to insert monitoring lines under medical direction
- Knowledge of pharmacology related to anesthesia practice
- Skill in performing MAC, regional, and general anesthesia techniques
- Ability to recognize signs of safe emergence from anesthesia and manage patient transport and reporting
- Knowledge of current clinical education and research techniques, evidenced by experience, credentials, and licensure
