Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of an anesthesiologist, perform safe anesthesia care, including:
- Pre-operative assessment
- Writing appropriate pre-op orders as specified by approved standard procedures
- Administration of all types of anesthetic techniques
- Patient monitoring intra-operatively
- Ensuring a safe intra-op course and emergence
- Assisting in post-operative care as necessary
You may be assigned to 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Work will be assigned across various ORs.
Salary range: $145.48/hourly
Job QualificationsRequired:
- Knowledge of current nursing, anesthesia, and critical care techniques as evidenced by:
- Valid California RN and CRNA licenses
- Graduation from an accredited Master's or DNP program in Nurse Anesthesia
- Current certification/re-certification by the National Board of Certification & Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists
- BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA or ARC
Required:
- Ability to perform thorough pre-, intra-, and post-operative assessments and formulate a safe anesthesia care plan
Required:
- Skill in performing pre-operative assessments of surgical and non-surgical patients, including:
- Identification of pre-existing diseases and their potential impact on anesthesia care
- Documentation of medical history, physical exam, labs, ECG, and chest X-ray
- Understanding interactions of pre-operative drugs with anesthetic agents
- Identification of physical exam abnormalities affecting anesthesia management
- Understanding indications for delaying elective surgery and for pre-op specialty consultation
Required:
- Ability to explain proposed anesthetic techniques, alternatives, risks, and obtain informed consent
Required:
- Ability to document anesthesia records thoroughly
Required:
- Skill in airway management and physiological monitoring interpretation
- Ability to interpret data (ECG, BP, vital signs, PCWP, SVR) and adjust interventions for patient safety
Required:
- Ability to safely insert venous and arterial lines under medical direction
Required:
- Knowledge of pharmacology, drug dosing, side effects, and contraindications in anesthesia practice
Required:
- Skill in performing MAC, regional, and general anesthesia techniques employed at UCLA
Required:
- Ability to recognize return of consciousness, safe emergence, and transport to recovery, with proper reporting
Required:
- Knowledge of current clinical, educational, and research techniques, supported by experience, credentials, and license
