Overview

Under minimal supervision, function primarily as a scrub and/or circulating nurse within the Outpatient Surgery Center Operating Room. Administrative and teaching responsibilities are to be performed as necessary, including inventory, instrument set-ups and chart reviews. Implement appropriate nursing interventions in the operating room arena.

Responsibilities

• Function as a member of a team in the Outpatient Surgery Center Operating Room.
• Serve as a scrub and/or circulating nurse with responsibility for instrumentation, equipment care, and documentation.
• Perform administrative and teaching duties as needed, including inventory management, instrument set-ups, and chart reviews.
• Implement appropriate nursing interventions applicable to the operating room setting.
• Ensure safety measures are followed and documentation is accurate and complete.
• Care for instrumentation and equipment, and utilize standard safety protocols.

Qualifications

• BSN or MSN degree required.
• Current and valid California RN license required.
• Circulate and scrub experience in an OR required.
• Graduated from an accredited school of nursing with clinical skills applicable to the OR.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.
• Writing skills to accurately document operative procedures, including interventions, drug and supply dispensing, and team member presence.
• Skills in setting priorities, organizing workload, and coordinating with multi-level personnel.
• Proficiency in English with medical/surgical terminology.
• Ability to comply with department standards including attendance and dress code.
• Minimum of 2 years of circulating and scrub experience in the OR required.
