Position: LNV/ LPN - Cardiovascular Med Cl HC1 - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Union)

Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to exam rooms, obtain and record patient vital signs/medication list, monitor patient flow, assist physicians with minor clinical procedures, perform EKGs, prepare patient charts with pertinent medical information, administer medications as directed by physician, schedule diagnostic tests ordered by the physician as needed, perform various administrative duties (answering phone calls, returning calls, receiving and sorting in-coming faxes), use and practice basic assessment, participate in planning, execute interventions in accordance with the plan of care or treatment plan, and contribute to evaluation of individualized interventions related to the care plan or treatment plan.
  • Provide direct patient care.
  • Administer medications.
  • Demonstrate professional communication skills for patient care, education, and multidisciplinary team collaboration.
  • Schedule and receive patients.
  • Ensure patient charts are prepared prior to appointment, including x-rays and pertinent lab work; make arrangements to obtain any special equipment needed. Set up exam rooms and assist physician with exams as needed; monitor patient flow.
  • Handle telephone calls and write correspondences.
  • Serve as a liaison between physicians and other individuals.
  • Take patient histories and vital signs.
  • Create an effective and efficient patient flow.
  • Perform first aid and CPR if needed.
  • Assist physicians with exams and treatments as permitted by license.
  • Organize pharmacy refill requests for physician approval.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting to accomplish duties in a timely manner.
  • Triages patients in person and over the telephone.
  • Record patient information in chart/EDR according to Joint Commission standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Req High school or equivalent
  • Req Specialized/technical training;
    Graduate from an accredited Vocational Nursing Program
  • Req Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
  • Req Demonstrate excellent customer service behavior
  • Req Demonstrates ability to effectively work with physicians, staff, and patients
  • Req Familiarity with word processing, Microsoft Outlook, Cerner, and navigate the intranet
  • Pref 2 years Experience in an acute care or ambulatory care setting
  • Req Licensed Vocational Nurse - LVN (CA DCA)
  • Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
  • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City); if no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days and maintained by renewal before expiration date (Required within LA City only)
  • Pref LVN - Intravenous Therapy Certification (CA DCA)
