Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Nurse Practitioner functions in an interdependent role by implementing the appropriate Standardized Procedures (SPs). In collaboration with the Medical Director, attending physicians, and fellows, the NP will provide independent clinical assessment and patient care management services for Hematology/Oncology clinic patients. The incumbent must be self-directed and capable of functioning with minimal supervision.
Job Qualifications- Current CA Licensure as RN and Nurse Practitioner
- Current BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Nursing, Nurse Practitioner Specialty
- National Certification in NP specialty
- 1-2 years of Oncology NP experience (preferred)
- Ability to independently prioritize work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals in complex settings
- Skills to perform history and physical examinations of oncology patients
- Skills to assess and evaluate oncology patients accurately
- Ability to develop and implement treatment plans under protocol and physician supervision
- Ability to triage patients based on vital signs, symptoms, and findings
- Ability to intervene and address patient problems when physicians are unavailable
- Clear and concise communication skills for medical records and correspondence
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EHR)/EPIC/Care Connect
- Ability to work independently in outpatient settings
- Competency in using computer applications for communication and data management
- Strong background in oncology clinical medicine
- Organizational skills for complex clinical regimens
- Ability to communicate medical information effectively to patients and families
- Proficiency in English for reading reports and preparing documentation
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Effective interaction and communication with patients, colleagues, and physicians
- Teamwork and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt to fluctuating workloads and interruptions
- Skills in delegating tasks efficiently
- Strong prioritization skills
- NPI # and DEA # required
