Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Chief Medical Officer, the Nurse Practitioner works as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team to provide comprehensive clinical care to patients of all abilities, with familiarity in FQHC Family Practice settings.
Responsibilities- Prescribe or administer specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
- Gather complete medical history and perform a physical exam on each client.
- Perform pap smears, breast examinations and other medical services as needed.
- Monitor patients’ conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary.
- Review results of labs and diagnostic imaging and arrange appropriate follow‑up.
- Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients.
- Order lab tests, screenings, and diagnostic procedures.
- Document all information timely using an Electronic Medical Record system.
- Advise patients on diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention.
- Refer patients to specialists when necessary.
- Participate in chart reviews, quality assurance activities, provider meetings, and training of residents, medical students, and other health care professionals.
- Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program.
- Board‑eligible or board‑certified in family practice.
- Current DEA license and CPR certification (BCLS/ACLS).
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a FQHC is preferred.
- Current California driver’s license with dependable insured vehicle.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact with patients from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Active medical license from the State of California with no pending or previous disciplinary action.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Critical thinking, judgment and decision making.
- Active listening, complex problem solving, and service orientation.
