Nurse Practitioner

Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer, the Nurse Practitioner works as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team to provide comprehensive clinical care to patients of all abilities, with familiarity in FQHC Family Practice settings.

• Prescribe or administer specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
• Gather complete medical history and perform a physical exam on each client.
• Perform pap smears, breast examinations and other medical services as needed.
• Monitor patients’ conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary.
• Review results of labs and diagnostic imaging and arrange appropriate follow‑up.
• Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients.
• Order lab tests, screenings, and diagnostic procedures.
• Document all information timely using an Electronic Medical Record system.
• Advise patients on diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention.
• Refer patients to specialists when necessary.
• Participate in chart reviews, quality assurance activities, provider meetings, and training of residents, medical students, and other health care professionals.

• Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program.
• Board‑eligible or board‑certified in family practice.
• Current DEA license and CPR certification (BCLS/ACLS).
• Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a FQHC is preferred.
• Current California driver’s license with dependable insured vehicle.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact with patients from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
• Active medical license from the State of California with no pending or previous disciplinary action.
