RN Navigator Coordinator – Oncology Services Clinic (Full Time, 8‑Hour Days, Exempt, Non‑Union)
Keck Medicine of USC is seeking a Registered Nurse with recognized leadership abilities and strong clinical skills to assist physicians in daily patient care. The Coordinator/Navigator will help facilitate appointments, coordinate multidisciplinary care, and support patients, families, and staff through the cancer continuum.
Essential Duties- Provides
Education:
Expert oncology knowledge base; proficiency in healthcare business (insurance, authorizations); knowledge of community resources; develop education plans; delegate reinforcement to team members as appropriate. - Coordinates Care: Strong assessment skills for clinical conditions and care barriers; formulate patient‑centered care plans; demonstrate strong organizational skills; prioritize and re‑prioritize patient needs; manage complex systems; coordinate services with clinical care and community resources; participate in clinic visits (document preparation); review medications and conduct reconciliation.
- Effective Communication: Excellent listening, verbal, and written skills; proficiency with presentation skills.
- Navigation Case Finding: Screen new referrals, contact within 24 hours, follow up on tumor board results; select patients based on diagnostic status, comorbidities, social factors; administer distress screening; evaluate laboratory results.
- Care Transitions: Assist transitions across phases of cancer care; develop treatment summaries and survivorship care plans.
- Program Data Management: Collect data to measure program metrics; create performance reports.
- Professional Role: Build collaborative relationships; demonstrate professional demeanor and critical thinking; show compassion and cultural sensitivity.
- Community Outreach: Participate in events to promote cancer detection and prevention.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
- Minimum two (2) years of clinical nursing experience.
- Excellent communication skills in English (speaking, reading, writing).
- Knowledge of medical procedures and conditions; ability to perform duties including blood collection and apheresis.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Master’s degree in Nursing (completed or in progress).
- Two (2) years’ experience as a Nurse Navigator or in oncology.
- Registered Nurse – RN (CA DCA).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (American Heart Association).
- Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) – card required within 30 days of hire (LA City only).
- Chemotherapy Certification – chemotherapy and biotherapy provider card within six (6) months of hire.
