Job Summary
As the leader of the health care team, the Staff RN provides professional nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures. The role demonstrates performance consistent with the Medical Center Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan, and treats co‑workers, patients, families, and all members of the health care team with dignity and respect.
Responsibilities- Leadership: Upholds policies, serves as a health care team leader, delegates tasks, mentors, and directs others through change processes, communicates through chain of command, participates in problem identification, and holds accountability for performance.
- Nursing Process: Develops individualized plans of care, ensures multidisciplinary planning, monitors patient progress, revises plans, ensures standard practice, completes discharge plans, and maintains patient safety related to medications, procedures, falls, and pain control.
- Documentation: Charting is accurate, legible, dated, and timely; reflects nursing process and interventions; utilizes computer systems efficiently for optimal patient care.
- Clinical Outcomes: Discusses patient findings and progress with physicians and team members; demonstrates competencies; makes comprehensive nursing decisions; participates in departmental performance improvement activities.
- Workplace Safety: Adheres to LMP Workplace Safety principles, applies standard precautions, and maintains a safe environment for self and others.
- Patient Care
Experience:
Practices customer service standards, answers call lights and alarms promptly, makes referrals, protects confidentiality, maintains a clean environment, treats families with courtesy and compassion, and provides an optimal patient care experience that exceeds expectations. - Team Commitment: Exhibits effective teamwork, confronts conflicts constructively, acts as a resource and mentor to new employees, attends mandatory meetings, and supports collaborative Labor‑Management Partnership environments.
- Fiscal Responsibility: Organizes work to minimize overtime, identifies systems improvement needs, and utilizes resources to their maximum potential.
- 1‑year recent full‑time equivalent experience in mother/baby care or successful completion of a KP FCC training program or approved equivalent within prior 12 months.
- Registered Nurse License (California).
- Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program.
- Cross‑training to at least one other perinatal area.
