Piece by Piece is seeking a compassionate, organized, and community minded Programs Manager to lead the workshops and certificate programs at the heart of our mission.
About Piece by PiecePiece by Piece empowers residents who have experienced homelessness or economic insecurity through free mosaic art workshops. Our programs build confidence, promote wellness, and create pathways to earned income and creative growth.
The RoleThe Programs Manager oversees workshops, open studios, and certification programs, ensuring they are well run, inclusive, and grounded in a supportive, trauma informed environment. This role also provides participant centered support informed by case management and social work best practices, helping artists navigate barriers to participation, stability, and growth.
This is a hands on role for someone who thrives at the intersection of arts, community building, and participant support.
Key Responsibilities- Program Leadership and Management
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee all workshops and open studios
- Support instructors and artistic leads to ensure smooth program delivery
- Manage the Certificate Program and coach artists pursuing certification
- Increase participation, engagement, and retention across programs
- Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming studio environment
- Oversee supplies, attendance tracking, and participant records
- Gather and apply participant feedback to improve programs
- Apply diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion principles throughout programming
- Participant Support
- Provide regular check ins using trauma informed, strengths based approaches
- Identify barriers related to housing instability, mental health, or access to services
- Offer short term supportive case management and referrals
- Support participants during periods of crisis using de escalation and harm reduction practices
- Maintain confidentiality and clear professional boundaries
- This role does not provide licensed clinical or therapeutic services
- Collaboration and Community Engagement
- Collaborate with artistic leads, consultants, and organizational leadership
- Share participant insights to strengthen programs
- Represent Piece by Piece with community partners, including the Skid Row Arts Alliance
- Experience in case management, care coordination, or social work informed support
- Strong facilitation and community building skills
- Experience working with individuals facing economic insecurity or homelessness
- Ability to apply trauma informed and harm reduction practices
- Excellent organization, communication, and coaching skills
- Commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion
- Bachelor’s degree not required
- Three to five years of relevant experience or equivalent lived and professional experience
This role is based in a creative studio and office environment in Los Angeles. It includes standing, moving throughout the space, and occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds.
