Overview

Community, Serve Us, a fiscally sponsored project of the nonprofit KARMANT Learning, addresses a critical gap in the social impact ecosystem. Across humanitarian work, many nonprofits and community leaders serve the same populations but operate separately, resulting in fragmented efforts and duplicated work. Traditional media fails to provide an unbiased, 360° view of the issues and citizens lack a space to organize and share their solutions & skills in a meaningful way.

Community, Serve Us is a centralized resource hub where citizens can discover trusted organizations and where nonprofits, foundations, and community leaders can collaborate to advance their missions together. The platform integrates nonpartisan 360-degree storytelling, immersive and VR experiences, live dialogue, and AI-powered data aggregation into a single interactive space. These tools help communities surface root causes, elevate underrepresented voices, and crowd source actionable solutions.

Community, Serve Us is committed to working closely with the right candidate to thoughtfully shape the scope of this role and ensure expectations are appropriate for a part-time, pro bono leadership commitment. We are seeking an experienced Executive Director to work alongside our Creator/Executive Producer to lead the platform during an exciting phase of growth. This volunteer role is ideal for a nonprofit or media leader who brings both strategic vision and hands-on experience in storytelling, digital platforms, and user engagement.

• Champion and promote the mission of Community, Serve Us
• Provide executive leadership and strategic direction
• Guide program and platform development, leading us from our current, limited-engagement beta to a successful general availability release
• Shape and oversee media and storytelling strategy across streaming and digital channels
• Build and steward partnerships with nonprofits, foundations, and community leaders
• Help grow and engage an active, values-driven user community
• Lead funding and sustainability efforts, including donor, sponsor, and partnership strategies
• Identify grant opportunities and collaborate with a pro bono grant writer to pursue and secure awards
• Create clear monthly impact and progress reports for advisors and internal and external stakeholders
• Partner with the Volunteer Coordinator to identify, recruit, and support key roles across the organization

• Senior nonprofit leader or executive with demonstrated management experience
• Experience in media, streaming TV, digital storytelling, or social platforms
• Strong professional network, including contacts who could serve as advisors or subject-matter experts for pilot and future seasons
• Comfortable operating in early-stage, evolving environments
• A collaborative leader who values inclusion, transparency, and measurable impact
• Passionate about our mission, humanitarian issues and community-driven solutions

As Executive Director of Community, Serve Us, you have an opportunity to shape the future of a revolutionary platform that creates the possibility for all voices to be heard and all people to have space to impact outcomes in their communities and beyond. You will help shape how stories are told, how communities engage, and how solutions emerge. Your leadership will directly influence the platform’s growth, credibility, and long-term impact.

This is a part-time, volunteer role with flexible hours and meaningful responsibility. The position has the potential to evolve from volunteer to paid, and from part-time to full-time, as funding is secured.
