Member Grant Research and Writing Team - Wells Bring Hope
Join to apply for the Member Grant Research and Writing Team - Wells Bring Hope role at Wells Bring Hope
Join a small team of grant writers/researchers who are passionate about saving lives with safe water. We are seeking a person with strong writing skills, and strong research skills, preferably from an academic background.
Wells Bring Hope is a non‑profit committed to drilling wells to bring safe water to rural villages in Niger, West Africa. Niger is a place where contaminated water kills innocent victims, most often infants and young children. One out of seven children will die before the age of 5. 40% have trachoma, which leads to blindness when untreated. 85% of women cannot read or write.
There is more to this sad story. The burden of getting water falls upon women and girls, who walk 4-6 back‑breaking miles every day of their lives to find water. The result? Girls don’t go to school—they must help their mothers. Women have no time to work to earn money to improve their quality of life. When a well is drilled, 250–300 ft.
into the ground, lives are transformed instantly. They have hope for their future. Water-borne diseases are virtually eliminated. Child mortality drops by 70+%. Education becomes a reality for girls. Women are given micro‑financing tools and education, which enables them to start small businesses and help provide for their families.

Wells Bring Hope is committed to drilling wells that bring safe water and sanitation to rural villages in Niger - the poorest country in the world - where one out of seven children die before their 5th birthday. The burden to get water falls on women and girls who walk 4-6 miles a day to find water, which is often contaminated.
Wells Bring Hope was founded in 2008 by founder and president, Barbara Goldberg. Since its inception, WBH has funded over 800 solar well taps and 8 solar powered health clinic wells, impacting the lives of over 850,000 people. When a well is drilled, child mortality drops by over 70%; girls go to school and women have the time to work and earn money for their families.
We view the drilling of a well as the first step in reversing a downward spiral of poverty. Working with our partner, World Vision, we provide 15+ years of education in sanitation, hygiene, and well maintenance for each village where we drill a well.
As an all‑volunteer nonprofit, we regard those who work with us as the "lifeblood" of our organization. Your volunteering is more than just a drop in the bucket, it is life changing. We invite you to join our cause and help make a lasting impact on the lives of others.
