Reporting to the Director of Disaster Relief, Response & Strategy, the Disaster Relief Coordinator will help the Disaster Relief team to execute the various initiatives, projects, and programs within the Disaster Relief Department s individual will work directly with our partner agencies to ensure essentials are distributed to children across the country and in times of disaster. The ideal candidate will have a passion for nonprofit disaster relief work, strong organizational skills, flexibility, a desire to grow their nonprofit work experience, solid multi-tasking abilities, and a positive, can-do attitude.
The Disaster Relief Coordinator will work Monday-Friday at 5830 W. Jefferson Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90016. The work is performed in an office and warehouse setting and is currently on site 3 – 5 days per week. This position will occasionally be on-call for off hours disaster relief work when activated.
Duties and Responsibilities- Helps the Disaster Relief Director and the Disaster Relief Manager in monitoring and understanding the developing disaster needs across the country.
- Maintains disaster relief databases, protocols, and other records to ensure timely and accurate reporting of our disaster relief work and impact.
- Works with the Disaster Relief Director and the other members of the Disaster Relief team to ensure that all program milestones and deadlines are met.
- Assists in maintaining our disaster relief partner organization relationships so that Baby2
Baby is as prepared as possible to respond to disasters. - Aids in the development of new partnerships with disaster relief organizations.
- Communicates with our disaster relief partner organizations to coordinate the distribution of essential items to children impacted by disaster; onboards new partner contacts and conducts orientations on Baby2
Baby programming, as needed. - Collaborates with other departments to help facilitate the distribution of in-kind donations and marketing requests.
- Monitors daily news and brings to the table any relevant disaster response news.
- Creates and tracks purchase orders to help ensure the team stays on track with the department budget.
- Responds to general partner inquiries in a timely manner.
- Assists department leadership with our Family Liaison program including communication with partners and families, coordination of essential items and record-keeping.
- Collects, synthesizes, and enters data into our data management system, pulls inventory reports.
- Provides status reports to management on the latest developments in our disaster response work.
- Potential for travel across the country to visit partner organizations and execute on-site distributions.
- Support the operation of the Pasadena disaster relief popup location.
- Manual labor sometimes required in preparation for distributions, events, and general programming.
- Supports development and programmatic events such as Gala, distributions and volunteer sessions, as needed.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in the non-profit sector, disaster response, or related field.
