The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is seeking an experienced fundraising professional to manage all aspects of a peer-to-peer event‑based portfolio, including oversight of event revenue, donor and fundraiser development, and engagement. The Associate Director will drive fundraising success for the Southern California Step Out for Diabetes Walk and must live within 50 miles of Los Angeles, CA.
This self‑starting individual will identify new opportunities to grow the local peer‑to‑peer portfolio across all fundraising channels, increase revenue, and meet significant revenue targets. The role requires proven success in peer‑to‑peer fundraising, campaign management, and relationship development.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Fundraising and Relationship Building- Manage and review daily campaign data through reports, dashboards, and revenue analysis to capitalize on opportunities and drive campaign revenue.
- Monitor portfolio performance, ensure timely responsiveness to new registrants, forecast accurately, recognize milestones, and maximize retention and revenue.
- Execute plans for retention, upgrade, and acquisition to develop pipeline in applicable business areas.
- Mine data to identify and acquire participants, team captains, corporate partners, sponsors, and community leaders.
- Develop new business with existing donors and prospects, providing excellent relationship management.
- Maintain complete donor interaction records within systems and trackers, capturing contacts, next steps, and tasks accurately.
- Track progress, financials, and KPIs to analyze and determine success.
- Experience making $50k+ corporate sponsorship and team asks.
- Support other fundraising events, activities, and programs as assigned.
- Develop the local pipeline of constituents and event leaders to drive market activity.
- Support the Executive Director and Development Director with event chair, executive leadership team, and challenge champions to meet revenue targets and standards.
- Identify, build, and steward relationships with community, philanthropic, and corporate leaders for volunteer and donor prospect development.
- Identify and implement marketing opportunities, partnerships, influencer relationships, and other initiatives to increase ADA presence and awareness within the assigned market.
- Support and maintain the vision, mission, priorities, and guiding principles of ADA.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 3+ years of professional experience in peer‑to‑peer fundraising, events, leadership, volunteerism, and corporate partnerships.
- Excellent public speaking skills and ability to present ADA’s mission to groups of all sizes.
- Demonstrated experience recruiting individuals to support an organization.
- Demonstrated ability to mobilize and motivate individuals to achieve goals.
- Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for growth in relationships.
- Effective organization and time‑management skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Initiative and independence with strong teamwork abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with diverse constituencies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, creativity, independent judgment, attention to detail, and editing skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Donor Drive (or other P2P platforms), and CRM systems.
- Ability to travel as needed for meetings and events.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to work occasional nights and weekends.
- Authorization to work in the United States required.
- Ability to occasionally lift or move up to fifteen pounds.
- Must live within 50 miles of Los Angeles, CA.
- Industry‑competitive base pay of $75,000‑$80,000, variable with experience, education, and equity.
