Position Summary

The Die Casting Toolmaker / Machinist will play a key role in maintaining and repairing die-cast tooling to ensure that molds and production equipment operate efficiently, safely, and with precision. This is a hands-on role within the Tool Room team and is essential to supporting consistent production output.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate standard tool room equipment (lathes, milling machines, grinders) to repair and maintain die-cast molds, pins, ejectors, cores, and fixtures.
  • Perform fitting, polishing, and assembly of molds, dies, and components to exact tolerances.
  • Manufacture replacement parts or modify existing tooling as needed for production demands.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve tooling issues.
  • Maintain organized and safe tool room operations and ensure equipment is in proper working order.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and documentation of all die and mold repairs.
  • Inspect, measure, and verify all parts using precision instruments to match blueprint specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
  • Apply safety precautions and mechanical expertise to produce accurate and high-quality components.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and production personnel to support continuous workflow and minimize downtime.
Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of experience as a toolmaker or machinist in a die casting or mold-making environment.
  • Proficiency with manual machines (lathe, mill, grinder); CNC experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and precision measurements.
  • Experience in die maintenance, repair, polishing, and fitting.
  • Strong understanding of die-cast tooling materials, heat treatment processes, and mold finishes.
  • Knowledge of safe operation and handling of tool room machinery and safety equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
