Key Responsibilities
  • Apply deep knowledge of equipment speed rates and production capabilities.
  • Work within EFI Print Smith and related workflows.
  • Accurately cost print jobs using critical thinking rather than relying solely on automation, including calculating labor, materials, run times, and finishing.
  • Lead accurate estimating for digital, offset, and finishing work across all job types.
  • Preflight artwork, prepare proofs, and approve print-ready files.
  • Conduct press sign-offs, verifying color, registration, and overall quality; document all approvals.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to clarify job specifications, timelines, and production requirements.
  • Track actual costs versus estimates and propose improvements to accuracy, margins, and workflow efficiency.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager to maintain schedules and resolve production challenges.
  • Maintain and refine SOPs for estimating and quality control.
  • Use strong communication and problem-solving skills to reduce delays, rework, and waste.
  • Office management experience in a print environment is a plus.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in print estimating, prepress, or press operations (senior-level preferred).
  • Strong expertise in print workflows, substrates, finishing, and color management.
  • Proven ability to preflight files and produce accurate, detailed estimates.
  • Experience with estimating or MIS systems such as Tharstern, EFI, or Print Vis.
  • Hands-on press knowledge, including color approval, registration, and quality standards.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to producing high-quality work.
  • Managerial or team leadership experience is a plus.
