Machinist B (2nd shift) – Eaton Aerospace Group, Los Angeles, CA
Hourly range: $26.80–$40.20 (starting at $34.00).
Shift: 1:45 pm – 10:15 pm.
Appointment in the IS AER FMC division of Eaton’s Aerospace Group. Manufacturing of aerospace hydraulic components, systems and services.
Responsibilities- Set up complex parts and operate machine without supervision.
- Interpret plans, work orders, blueprints or drawings; full understanding of GD&T.
- Inspect parts for quality and tolerance using micrometers, calipers, air gauges, comparators.
- Finish parts with different materials to close tolerance without supervision.
- Examine workpiece surface for defects before starting work.
- Meet production and quality requirements; keep work area clean.
- Modify machining feeds and speeds on multiple material types; select tooling and gauges as needed.
- Use measuring tools to verify part quality.
- Replace worn tools, inspect parts, adjust tool offsets as needed.
- Team player; follow all safety rules and regulations.
- Drive continuous process improvements.
- High School Diploma required.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in machining, honing or lapping parts in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds often.
- Must reside within a 50‑mile radius of Los Angeles, CA (zip code 90039); relocation not offered.
- Position requires use of ITAR‑protected information; applicant must be a U.S. person.
- Aerospace experience preferred.
- 6+ years’ experience in machining, honing or lapping parts.
- Involvement in successful process definition and re‑engineering.
- Experience in multi‑discipline teamwork.
- Proficiency with computer‑based methods and tools.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen events, continuous improvement and Six Sigma methodology.
- Experienced with multiple machine tools, production methods and shop practices.
- Ability to learn equipment and processes for fabrication of aerospace parts; produce parts per plans, sketches or verbal instructions.
- Maintain close tolerance dimensions on critical parts.
- Knowledge of dimensional measuring instrumentation.
- Read and interpret drawings, sketches, manufacturing routings, procedures, and routers.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with SPC principles and methods.
- Produce and inspect critical parts with tight tolerances and finishes with minimal supervision.
- Logical problem solving and organized project execution.
