Eaton’s IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Precision Inspector A (1st Shift).
The hourly rate for this position is $30.54 - $45.82. Rate is $35.19 per hour. The hours for first shift are 5:30 - 2:00 pm.
Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
What You’ll DoEaton Aerospace Group located in Los Angeles, CA (near Glendale metro) has an opening for a Precision Inspector
A. The LA facility has approximately 300 employees and is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of Aerospace hydraulic components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets.
Reports to the Quality Control manager or designated authority. Responsible for performing in-process and/or incoming dimensional and visual inspections of highly complex; closed tolerance hydraulic, pneumatic, electric and mechanical component parts, assemblies, and sub-assemblies as required.
Essential Functions- Inspects (Incoming and/or in-process) highly complex; closed tolerance aerospace precision machined components and/or assemblies visually and dimensionally for conformance to manufacturing drawings, quality control specifications and supplier/customer requirements. Other duties and/or responsibilities may be performed as part of cross-training or employee development plan.
- Responsible for review and acceptance of paperwork and documentation used in the acceptance of product.
- Responsible to produce necessary manual or computer-generated inspection reports to accept or reject products.
- Inspection involves using precision measurement equipment such as, but not limited to, calipers, micrometers, pin gages, thread plugs, thread ring gages, thread gages, surface plates, spring tester, optical comparator, surface plate, and CMM.
- Possesses in-depth understanding of geometrical tolerancing and dimensional measurements per ASME Y14.5.
- Possesses minimum of 5 years of experience in first article inspection (per AS9102) of highly complex, close tolerance aerospace products.
- Performs inspection on surface plates using complex inspection layout equipment.
- Operates Coordinate Measuring Machines during the performance of inspections (or have a strong working knowledge of CMM capability).
- Witnesses and/or performs dimensional inspection on highly complex; closed tolerance machined components and tooling at suppliers (Source Inspection).
- Signs-off product as acceptable or alert of discrepancies at Eaton suppliers.
- Conducts investigation audits, corrective actions etc. as directed by Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE).
- Acts as a liaison for SQE to communicate and investigate supplier issues.
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Minimum 5 years related experience in mechanical inspection of highly complex, close tolerance aerospace products.
- Relocation is not offered for this role. Candidates must reside within a 50 mile distance of the Los Angeles, CA facility (zip code 90039) to be considered.
- This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the ITAR. All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
- Knowledge or experience inspecting various types of materials (e.g., aluminum, alloy, titanium, stainless steel, etc.).
- Knowledge or experience inspecting aerospace products with coatings (e.g., anodizing, cadmium plating, chromium plating, nickel plating, zinc plating, passivation, etc.).
- College or ASQ (American Society for Quality) certification a plus.
- Experience working in FAA environment. Basic knowledge of DFAR and Nadcap requirements.
