PositionSummary
The Fund Manager provides comprehensive financial, payroll, and personnel leadership for an academic department, overseeing complex budgets that support faculty, staff, students, and research programs. This role manages departmental operating funds, grants, gifts, and special program allocations; prepares and monitors budgets; ensures compliance with University and funding agency policies; and serves as a key advisor to department leadership on fiscal planning and resource management.
The Fund Manager also oversees academic and staff personnel actions, payroll administration, and post-award grant management while collaborating closely with campus partners to support the department’s teaching, research, and service mission.

Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications- Legacy KSAs and Other Qualifications Demonstrated analytical skill in financial analysis, planning, budget preparation, management and administration. (Required)
- Knowledge of University accounting principles and practices. (Preferred)
- Skill in using complex databases and Excel. (Required)
- Knowledge of Academic and Staff Personnel policies and procedures. (Preferred)
- Knowledge of University payroll and benefits policies and procedures. (Preferred)
- Knowledge of contract and grant administration policies and procedures. (Preferred)
- Knowledge of University purchasing and travel policies and procedures. (Preferred)
- Knowledge of departmental record retention policies and procedures. (Required)
- Skill in understanding, negotiating, and analyzing information to formulate excellent fiscal practices, policies and procedures. (Required)
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills to effectively work with a wide range of constituents. (Required)
- Ability to work independently, establish priorities, accomplish goals and make decisions effectively. (Required)
- Working knowledge of UCLA systems. (Preferred)
- Bachelor's Degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training (Required)
