Position: Workers Compensation and Medical Accommodations Manager

What You'll Do- Lead a team that manages workers’ compensation, disability accommodations, medical screenings, and DOT drug and alcohol testing; guide staff to ensure processes run smoothly and continuously improve services.
- Process claims and requests by collaborating with Legal, outside counsel, and Third-Party Administrators to resolve issues quickly, fairly, and in compliance with regulations and union agreements.
- Collaborate with Benefits, Safety, Fleet, Recruitment, Risk Management, and Security to design programs that keep employees safe, healthy, and ready to perform at their best.
- Oversee contracts and vendor relationships to ensure efficient, compliant processes and ongoing improvement.
- Contribute to shaping the future of employee health and safety by identifying opportunities to improve programs and make a meaningful daily impact.
- A proactive leader who can guide a team, foster collaboration, and keep complex programs running smoothly.
- In-depth knowledge of workers’ compensation, disability, accommodations, DOT regulations, medical screenings, and related compliance—or the ability to quickly master these areas.
- A transparent communicator and cross-functional collaborator able to work with Legal, Benefits, Safety, Fleet, Recruitment, Risk Management, and Security to solve problems and implement effective programs.
- Experience managing vendors and Third-Party Administrators (TPAs), ensuring contracts and processes are efficient, compliant, and delivering results.
- Analytical and solutions-oriented, capable of identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing proactive strategies to enhance employee health, safety, and overall experience.

Schedule: 9/80 Monday through Friday with every other Friday off.
Hybrid: Current practice is a hybrid schedule with two in-person days per week and remaining days remote. Telework policy is in negotiation and will provide final direction when implemented.
QualificationsEmployment Standards Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and ten years of increasingly responsible relevant experience, four of which are in a management or supervisory role; or an advanced degree with eight years of relevant experience, four in management or supervision.
Relevant
Experience:
A combination of experience in workers’ compensation, medical accommodations, and at least one of the following areas: medical screenings, medical surveillance, and/or Department of Transportation commercial driver regulations.
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations: Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent that allows you to drive during employment.
Desirable Qualifications: Certified Safety Professional;
Designated Employer Representative (DER) Training.
