Property management staff members go above and beyond to ensure each property managed becomes a pillar within its community. This is accomplished through the creation of vibrant, connected spaces that support each resident’s emotional, physical and financial ability to thrive.

Position Summary

The Area Manager is responsible to assist the Regional Manager in the management of assigned portfolio, provides training to new and existing team members, ensures all property management personnel are fully supported, trained, adhering to Abode’s operational, and compliance procedures. Helps to provide coverage during open positions or when additional help is needed to complete move-ins or recertifications on time. The Area Manager is also responsible for the management of an assigned community.

Focus will be on achieving company objectives, compliance with affordable housing guidelines, and operating within budget. Emphasis on maintaining the physical asset, providing a quality living environment for residents, and establishing a positive, productive working relationship with community team members. The position requires supervisory responsibility for onsite employees at assigned community and mentoring/training of Community Managers in policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Equivalent Education, Experiences, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of relevant experience in multifamily residential property management. Specific knowledge of affordable regulations, Tax Credit, HUD, LAHD, HCD, CDLAC highly desired.
  • Commitment to excellent customer service; ability to demonstrate empathy and compassion in decision-making and communications.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, supervisory experience and successful at building cohesive teams within small- to medium-sized departments.
  • Capacity to respect, understand and positively engage persons of other cultures and backgrounds.
  • Commitment to improving the overall quality of life for residents and building healthy communities through the provision of high-quality affordable housing.
  • Knowledge of organizational and affordable policies and procedures. Ability to apply policies and procedures to solve everyday issues.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent problem solving, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and have proactive approach to management.
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks under fixed time constraints and deadlines.
  • Knowledgeable of property management regulations (Fair Housing, State, Local, etc.)
  • Knowledge of MS Office required and industry software, Boston Post/MRI preferred.
  • Ability to work with people of diverse social, economic, ethnic backgrounds, and remain sensitive to issues facing veterans, homelessness, disabled, elderly, family, and other diverse populations.
  • Ability to read annual budgets.
  • Ability to travel to other sites in portfolio.
  • Ability to respond to after hour emergencies.
