This organization is one of the world’s leading law firms, consistently recognized at the top of the global market. The firm’s success is driven by its ability to attract, develop, and retain exceptional talent and by a culture grounded in respect, innovation, and collaboration. As part of its continued investment in financial leadership, the firm is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee revenue operations for one of its flagship U.S. offices.

About the Role

The Accounting/Billing Manager is a senior leadership position within the Office Accounting function and is responsible for overseeing end-to-end revenue operations for a major office in the firm’s global platform. This role partners closely with senior office leadership, billing attorneys, and the Finance Committee to ensure disciplined financial execution, effective inventory management, and strong collection performance.

The Accounting Manager brings deep expertise in law firm accounting and billing practices, applies generally accepted accounting principles, and contributes to the strategic planning and execution of departmental and firmwide financial objectives. This position plays a critical role in safeguarding revenue, supporting pricing and billing strategy, and maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, compliance, and client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor to billing attorneys, senior office leadership, and the Finance Committee on revenue, billing, and accounting matters.
  • Oversee end-to-end billing and collections operations for the office, ensuring timely billing, proactive inventory management, and effective accounts receivable follow-up.
  • Partner with the Global Billing team to implement and administer firmwide billing standards, best practices, and inventory management processes.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor accounting staff, ensuring accountability, operational excellence, and timely delivery of department objectives.
  • Provide strategic guidance on billing and accounting initiatives, including financial metrics, rate structures, and alternative fee arrangements such as matter budgets and fixed-fee engagements.
  • Champion proactive inventory management practices, including monitoring billing completion rates, reviewing performance reports, and facilitating regular inventory review meetings with billing attorneys.
  • Collaborate closely with collections leadership to support collection strategies while preserving strong client relationships.
  • Ensure the protection and confidentiality of sensitive, privileged, financial, and proprietary information.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required; advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible accounting experience, preferably within a large or complex professional services environment.
  • At least six (6) years of experience in an accounting management or leadership role.
  • Strong foundation in general accounting principles and law firm billing and revenue practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with senior leaders and influence at the executive level.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, with a collaborative and service-oriented mindset.
  • Proven ability to manage teams, prioritize competing demands, and operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-expectations environment.

The firm offers a highly competitive total compensation package, including performance-based bonuses, and a comprehensive benefits program. Benefits include health, life, and disability insurance; a robust retirement plan; generous paid time off and holidays; well-being and professional development programs; employee discounts; and access to affinity groups and professional networks.
