Position Summary

UCLA Student Alumni Programs and Family Engagement (SAPFE) connects current students with alumni and provides resources for families to support their student's success through networking, mentorship (like the Alumni Mentor Program and UCLA ONE), career development events (Entertainment Networking Night, Industry Series), and family support via the Parent & Family Association (PFA), newsletters, and events like Bruin Family Weekend, fostering a lifelong Bruin community.

When you join us as our Director SAPFE, you will play a vital role in cultivating lasting relationships with parents, families and campus partners to strengthen ties with UCLA throughout their student’s college experience and beyond. As the lead for UCLA’s PFA, you will shape and implement strategies that promote student success, retention and graduation by increasing parents’ understanding of the University to build a commitment that translates to volunteerism, advocacy and financial support for UCLA.

As a key connector between Bruins, Bruin families and all that UCLA has to offer, you’ll work to expand engagement by providing the expertise and resources to help parents and families participate in their student’s experiences m digital newsletters to podcasts to social media initiatives, we believe an informed and supportive family furthers the success of your student’s education and builds bridges for the next chapters of our Bruins after graduation.

We welcome you to bring your passion and expertise to this role where you will build and strengthen student, alumni and family ties through managing and executing all school-wide parent communications, managing the UCLA Parents’ Council and parent/family volunteer structure; and leading staff in the planning and implementation of events for parents and families of undergraduate students. Salary & Compensation

UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in an alumni affairs and/or parent/family oriented role to include demonstrated volunteer and/or constituent leadership development experience including volunteer recruitment, stewardship, training and management. (Required)
  • Experience establishing, overseeing and evaluating collaborations and initiatives, and in developing support among both internal campus constituencies and external partners. (Required)
  • Experience working in educational and/or nonprofit client service-oriented environment is highly desirable. (Preferred)
  • Strong background in program/project management including identifying and setting priorities, performing detailed needs analysis, identifying stakeholders, developing action plans, segmenting projects and initiatives into their component parts/managing the process from inception to completion. (Required)
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact courteously and effectively with co-workers, volunteers, donors, key university officials and other internal and external constituents while maintaining composure under pressure. (Required)
