We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader to serve as the Director of Operations - West Region. This role oversees and manages the “core competencies” of operations for a Carey company‑owned Region, with responsibilities that may include:
Fleet operations, dispatchers, drivers, office functions, as necessary depending on the needs and operations of the specific subsidiary company. Enforce Brand Standards across the region.
- Provides hands‑on management of all aspects of service operations (customer service, dispatch, drivers and fleet operations) for the company 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Develop and maintain relationships with Farmout (FO) service providers as assigned to meet standards, maximize vehicle availability, maintain acceptable service level standards and maintain profitable relationships with the FO.
- Works with the RDCW in order to plan appropriately with driver schedule and FO availability.
- Onboards all new drivers and FO companies to ensure each are set up correctly in EPCAB and in Accounting.
- Ensures Fleet is maintained properly and available while meeting monthly budgets.
- Ensure Carey San Diego is on‑boarded seamlessly into the West Region. Offer support to the SD GM and staff as needed.
- Ensuring Brand Standards are in place for the West Region (LA/SF/SD).
- Review daily service advisories, determine recovery steps to satisfy the customer, and develop internal corrective action plans.
- Enforces policies and procedures to achieve higher service levels. Monitors service quality utilizing service advisory reports, quality assurance reports.
- Reports and reviews results with the GM.
- Tracks all Service Plus and VIP “movements” daily with “zero tolerance” for any service failures.
- Assists RVP/GM/RDCW with any new account rollout to ensure operational excellence and exceptional service delivery.
- Ensures all jobs are accurately closed (EOJ), and priced daily. Ensures all tickets are closed out and turned into Accounting Dept. by IOs within 24 hours of job completion.
- Maintains an open and continuous line of communication with all personnel. Mentors and develops personnel in all areas of service operations. All meetings conducted must have an agenda and minutes accomplished. Reports and reviews results with the RVP‑New England.
- Ensures Farmouts understand their contribution to the “Brand Promise” per the Carey Standards set forth in the Farmout Agreement.
- Consults with the GM to initiate vendor agreements with farm‑outs. Conducts all fleet inspections and insurance verifications in regards to prospective farm‑outs. Maintains files on all farm‑out companies and tracks farm‑out revenue by vehicle type and by farm‑out company. The GM and Controller have oversight responsibility for vendor agreements, revenue tracking and margin maintenance.
- Maintain all CDL driver files and records to meet FMCSA standards along with maintenance records. Understand all FMCSA standards and ensure all vehicles and drivers meet these standards.
- Maintains constant open lines of communication with the Director of National Sales for the subsidiary. This includes all aspects of service operations and account management as required. Develops, trains and mentors assigned personnel to manage the operational account management functions and how they relate to customer service and relationships.
- Maintains compliance with all organization policies and procedures to include Human Capital directives. Develops a comprehensive understanding of all directives and manuals affecting this position to include the Standards Manual, Employee Handbook, Ethics Handbook, T&E Policy and the Supervisor’s guide to Human Capital.
- Other responsibilities as may be reasonably assigned.
Education:
At least 2 years of college and/or Associates Degree required, 4‑year college degree preferred.
Experience:
A minimum 2 years in operations‑related management role with responsibility for supervising staff.
- Must demonstrate strong working knowledge of how to devise rates and service fees for customers to maintain maximum profitability.
