About The Role

The Director of Preconstruction will oversee all aspects of preconstruction and estimating operations, managing teams, processes, and client relationships to ensure accurate budgeting, constructability analysis, and successful handoff to operations. This is a high-impact, visible leadership role ideal for a construction executive with proven experience in complex, large-scale projects ($50M–$500M+).

• Lead the preconstruction department overseeing estimating, budgeting, and design phase collaboration for pursuits across Southern California.
• Provide strategic leadership in project feasibility, risk assessment, scheduling, and cost modeling.
• Manage and mentor preconstruction managers, estimators, and engineers.
• Partner with operations and executive leadership to secure and deliver winning project strategies.
• Build and maintain client and design partner relationships to enhance early-phase engagement and repeat business.
• Oversee GMP development, bid evaluations, and value-engineering strategies.
• Implement best practices, software systems, and workflow improvements across the preconstruction function.
• Contribute to company growth by supporting new market development and high-value pursuits.

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 12+ years of progressive preconstruction and estimating experience with a major general contractor.
• Proven track record leading preconstruction teams on large-scale commercial, healthcare, education, or institutional projects.
• Strong proficiency in cost modeling, conceptual estimating, and design-phase collaboration.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and client relationship skills.
• Experience with design-build and CMAR delivery methods required.
• Advanced knowledge of Bluebeam, OST, Revit, Procore, and estimating platforms.
