Position: Custodian
Program: MAOF Head Start (Roosevelt/Early Explorers Centers, Muti-site position)
Salary: $19.71 - $21.97
Status: Non-exempt,
Reports To: Program Director, Site Supervisor, Lead Custodian and or designee
DEFINITIONTo maintain the Child Care and Development Program's facilities, child care centers, offices, grounds, equipment, and storage rooms in good repair, orderly, and clean.
ResponsibilitiesUnder the general guidance of the Site Supervisor, Lead Custodian and/or designee, following established MAOF procedures, utilizes and devises methods and procedures to ensure the proper care and maintenance of the MAOF Child Care and Development Program's centers and equipment.
- As appropriate, sweeps, mops, vacuums, and waxes all center and office floors regularly, maintaining a clean and neat appearance.
- As necessary, sweep and clean utility rooms, storage rooms, garages, and outdoor play areas.
- Water outdoor plants and play areas.
- Daily cleans and disinfects bathrooms and maintains paper supplies. Empties wastebaskets daily.
- Washes windows and hand marks from walls and doors.
- Loads and unloads deliveries of food, supplies, and equipment.
- Arranges storage areas and is responsible for rotating food to ensure that the earliest purchased food is used first.
- Sets-up equipment.
- Makes minor repairs to equipment.
- Makes minor indoor and outdoor repairs.
- Performs minor building repairs, renovations, and plumbing (faucets, washers, etc.).
- Ensures that center doors and gates are securely locked at the end of the day and when leaving before or after opening or closing hours.
- Completes Health and Safety checklists of centers assigned and reports necessary repairs to Site Supervisor.
- In a timely manner, submits requests for janitorial equipment and supplies to the Site Supervisor.
- Maintains a neat personal appearance.
- Regular attendance;
Monday through Friday, assigned schedule. - As assigned attends trainings and meetings.
- As assigned, carries out any other activities necessary for the proper implementation of MAOF's Child Care and Development Program.
- Physical and mental fitness to engage in custodial work.
- Must be 18 years of age to apply.
- Must provide vaccination records for influenza, pertussis, and measles at the time of employment. Annual requirement thereafter.
- Must be fingerprinted (state law). Must possess Live Scan fingerprint clearance at all times during employment.
- Must have transportation, California Driver's License, and required insurance.
- Spanish/English preferred.
- Must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination card or apply for the waiver.
- Must pass tuberculosis (TB) test and physical examination before employment.
- Criminal record clearance: FBI, DOJ, and CACI must be cleared before employment.
- Must complete LIC 508 Criminal Record Statement and Out of State Disclosure.
Equipment and vehicle essential in accomplishing job duties are expensive and may require more work to replace. When using MAOF property, employees are expected to exercise care, perform required maintenance, and follow all operating instructions, safety standards, and guidelines.
Please notify the supervisor if any equipment, machines, tools, or vehicles appear to be damaged, defective, or in need of repair. Prompt reporting of damages, defects, and the need for repairs could prevent deterioration of equipment and possible injury to employees or others.
