The Stationary Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and modification of equipment controls, electrical/electronic systems, and mechanical devices. This role ensures the safe and efficient operation of the facility’s boilers and related systems, following industry standards and safety regulations.
What We’re Looking For- Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years working with boilers and boiler operation. - Education:
Any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job. - Required
Licenses/Certifications:
L.A. City 500 H.P. License required.

- Maintenance and Repair:
Maintain clean equipment rooms, perform routine inspections, minor repairs, and replace worn or defective parts. - Emergency equipment:
Perform monthly tests on all emergency equipment, including switch gear, ensuring compliance with applicable codes. - Water analysis and boiler inspections:
Conduct daily analysis, log findings, and perform rounds twice daily; document findings. - Preventive Maintenance:
Use PM sheets to service equipment per manufacturer schedules (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual). - General plant upkeep:
Keep central plant area clean and maintain equipment in good order; complete work orders and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Adhere to the ASME Power Boiler Code and National Board requirements.
- Follow safety regulations and maintain a safe work environment.
- Participate in Environment of Care and Safety Programs; report safety concerns and maintain compliant work areas.
- Continuous or frequent standing, walking, and manual activities as described in the role.
- Physical requirements include extensive hand usage, reaching, bending, twisting, kneeling, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Office and shop equipment (computers, copiers, telephones, etc.).
- Department tools and equipment (ladders, hand tools, dollies, electrical tools).
