Overview

Blank Rome is seeking an independent, personable and detailed Paralegal proficient in the practice of matrimonial and family law to work with high profile individuals, athletes and celebrities on highly confidential matters. In this role, the Paralegal would provide support to attorneys in the firm’s nationally recognized Matrimonial and Family law practice on all matrimonial matters from commencement to resolution.

This role has a hybrid working arrangement. Potential candidates must reside within commuting distance of our Los Angeles office to be onsite 3 days per week. In this role, you will report to the Director of Paralegal Services.

Essential Functions
  • Assist attorneys in the review and drafting of various legal documents with an emphasis on the matrimonial practice in Los Angeles and the state of California.
  • Conduct legal and factual research and investigation related to our legal matters and prepare written material on research results.
  • Draft pleadings pertinent to California matrimonial matters.
  • Draft Net Worth Statements and Financial Affidavits.
  • Cite checking, discovery and trial/preparations and trial attendance.
  • Assist with the review and organization of mandatory disclosures and financial discovery.
  • Prepare other subpoenas, motions to compel and assists with preparation for depositions.
  • Manage the trial preparation process and attend hearings and trials when needed.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Work additional hours as needed to fulfill job requirements.

Skills/Qualifications
  • 3+ years of paralegal experience, specifically with matrimonial/family law.
  • Experience with California State matrimonial and family law.
  • Bachelor’s degree, paralegal certification, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Experience in a legal environment or professional services firm required.
  • Knowledge of the family law litigation process from start to finish.
  • Ability to provide top notch, white glove client service in a heavily client-facing role with high wealth, well-known individuals, athletes, and celebrities.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to develop positive working relationships (in-person and virtually).
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize complex or diverse information.
  • Ability to collect and research data.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with effective organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven problem solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Unquestioned integrity and professionalism.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Proficient in web-based conference call/web-sharing applications.
  • Promote positive work habits, including effective and timely communication, teamwork, and demonstrating respect for colleagues.
